چکیده
Voyage 2050 White Paper highlighting the unique science opportunities using spectral distortions of cosmic microwave background (CMB). CMB probe many processes throughout history Universe. Precision spectroscopy, possible with existing technology, would provide key tests for expected within cosmological standard model and open an enormous discovery space to new physics. This offers scientific furthering our understanding inflation, recombination, reionization structure formation as well dark matter particle A dedicated experimental approach could this window early Universe in decades come, allowing us turn long-standing upper distortion limits obtained COBE/FIRAS some 25 years ago into clear detections signals.

Taking the Universe's Temperature with Spectral Distortions of the Cosmic Microwave Background.
The cosmic microwave background (CMB) energy spectrum is a near-perfect blackbody. The standard model of cosmology predicts small spectral distortions to this form, but no such distortion of the sky-averaged CMB spectrum has yet been measured. We calculate the largest expected distortion, which arises from the inverse Compton scattering of CMB photons off hot, free electrons, known as the therm...
متن کاملOn the effect of cyclotron emission on the spectral distortions of the cosmic microwave background
We have investigated the role of the cyclotron emission associated to cosmic magnetic fields on the evolution of CMB spectral distortions by considering the contributions by spontaneous and stimulated emission and by absorption in the computation of the photon and energy injection rates. These cyclotron emission rates have been numerically compared with those of the relevant radiative processes...
متن کاملCosmic Microwave Background Observations in the Era of Precision Cosmology
The cosmic microwave background (CMB) radiation is a major arena for testing cosmological theories. Its discovery confirmed the hot-bigbang origin of the universe and ruled out the steady-state theory. Since that time the impact on cosmology of CMB studies has grown steadily, indicating the prevalence of non-baryonic matter and the existence of a negative pressure component in the 1980’s; the d...
متن کاملSpectral distortions to the Cosmic Microwave Background from the recombination of hydrogen and helium
The recombination of hydrogen and helium at z∼ 1000–7000 gives unavoidable distortions to the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) spectrum. We present a detailed calculation of the line intensities arising from the Lyα (2p–1s) and two-photon (2s–1s) transitions for the recombination of hydrogen, as well as the corresponding lines from helium. We give an approximate formula for the strength of the...
